Reflections Of Sin City
Unedited water reflections of Amsterdam by night. Taken with a Sony HX200V. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Usually I shoot my wicked reflections by daylight, but sometimes I get caught up in those dark hours that are a very special time in our lovely hometown Amsterdam, and I have to say, every now and then it can be very refreshing, interesting and educative to spend some time in the wicked, dark underbelly of our very own Sin City, something we locals don't do very often, we usually leave all the sleaze and scandalous things for our visitors...oh Amsterdam, you lovely old lady with your dazzling colors and your blinding lights, luring us into your dark, sticky corners and back-alleys :)
Back In The Days
Shots of Amsterdam. Taken with a Sony HX200V. Our beautiful city Amsterdam is really old ("The earliest recorded use of the name "Amsterdam" is from a certificate dated 27 October 1275" says Wikipedia), and even though there are tons of modern things all around and happening, I often find myself standing by a canal or in the street, feeling like I've traveled back in time to some lost ages of wayback. That's just one of the many things this place does to you, and I'm loving it...luckily even with all this time-traveling we still have the Interwebs to share these moments with the rest of the world :)
The Golden Hour
Unedited water reflections of Amsterdam. Shot with a Sony HX200V. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Yesterday was a beautiful Indian Summer day and I was lucky enough to find some puddles to capture the golden hour in a reflection. I just totally love my city, it always looks good, even in a wet spot. Thank God it's Friday!
Reflections Of Amsterdam
Unedited window reflections of Amsterdam. Shot with a Sony HX200V and Sony HX1. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Amsterdam, the best city in the world, always looks fabulous, even when it's reflected in a puddle, mirror or window, so I decided to share some recent reflections with you, for no reason, just because I can. Enjoy your day, almost weekend!
My First Light Paintings
Shots of my first Light Painting session in Amsterdam. Taken with a Canon 400D. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Last year I've met the awesome Light Painter Vincent Bruno and got a first idea of how wicked and cool his work is, now we have our own Master of LP in Amsterdam, the cool Tim van Vliet, I am lucky and happy to call them both my friends. Tim was having a Light Painting session in the Westerpark this week, so I grabbed my cam and gave it a try myself...I know, it looks nothing like the wicked stuff these guys create, but it was a lot of fun anyway, thanks for the inspiration and for sharing some tips and tricks with me Vincent and Tim :)
The Bike Capital
Bikes in Amsterdam. Taken with a Sony HX200V. As you might know, we have so many bikes in Amsterdam that they actually outnumber the people who ride them, and the only logical explanation for this is of course that they are having little baby bikes. At night, when we are sleeping, they wrap their metal frames around each other and make sweet love, ensuring the continous growth of their species, probably following a Masterplan to take over the city...I for one welcome the leadership of our new steely Overlords, it's gonna be a bright, emission-free future for all of us! Have a great start into the new week :)
Don't Loose Your Head!
Unedited water reflections in Amsterdam. Taken with a Sony HX200V. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. The rainy season is upon us and while most people in this lovely little country moan about the daily downpour, I am secretly happy and often smiling to myself when nobody is looking, because as much as I appreciate a sunny day, for my wicked reflections I do need some of that wet gold as well that nature so freely distributes. The next time you get upset because it's raining, think about this wicked Reflectah being able to shoot some pretty pictures, maybe it'll be more bearable then to deal with some wet weather. Enjoy your day, almost weekend :)
Cozy Rainy Sunday
Unedited water reflections in Amsterdam. Taken with a Sony HX200V. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. It's Sunday morning, outside the heavens angrily pour out plenty of buckets of
Amsterdam Window Floozies
Unedited shop window reflections in Amsterdam. Taken with a Sony HX200V using the HDR filter. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. As you might know, I am somewhat of a specialist for puddle reflections, but sometimes I take pictures of windows or mirrors as well, and trust me, waving my camera at the mannequins inside a shop display makes me feel even more stoopid then shooting a wet spot in the street, because it looks like I'm some dirty old man who's so excited by plastic people that he kneels down in front of them (to avoid being in the shot myself :) and keeps snapping away...oh well, anything for art, lol. Have a great weekend, enjoy, take care :)
Shots of my little weekend vacation. Taken with a Sony HX200V. Last week I decided to take a little Time-out from my lovely hometown Amsterdam and go on a short vacation trip. I've met plenty of nice people, enjoyed different sights&sounds and had a majorly great time, when I returned I madly fell in love with good old A-town again...you can't come home if you don't go away :)
