Let The Sun Shine!
Unedited shots of trees and shrubs in the Westerpark in Amsterdam, reflected in a little pond. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. The last days have been very wet, windy and cold, not a good start for the Summer season, so I'm trying to hypnotize the weather gods with this picture and force some sunshine out them...let's hope this works, it's almost June now, I'm tired of wearing Winter clothes and all this rain can't be good for my new bike, the fabulous Lord Bikenheimer :)

AmsterS@m On TV
Slightly edited shots of a severe case of Gadget-mania breaking out in my house in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I've mentioned it last week, I've bought some new Gadgets to enhance my Multimedia options and make full use of the wicked possibilities that the Interwebs and the 21st Century in general throw our way...so, to show you how I managed to get my YouTube puddle reflection movies onto my new 32 Inch Flat screen TV (yay :))), follow the white rabbit photos, and enjoy watching how I connected my living room to that obscure online world we all love so much ... :)

AmsterS@m on TV!

Step 1: Go and buy a ridiculously over sized Television, these days they are very affordable and something that would have ruined you financially a year ago, now can be easily picked up with the groceries for a nice price, lucky me :)

AmsterS@m on TV!

Step 2: Get a serious Storage unit that will be able to house all your Porn Movies important documents, pictures and Poem collections, throw an online Multimedia player into the mix for good measure...

AmsterS@m on TV!

Step 3: Free the serious Storage unit from its little prison and connect it to your PC where you can fill it with movies that you've downloaded illegaly from the Net movies that you have purchased legally in a shop...

AmsterS@m on TV!

Step 4: Unpack the Multimedia player and speak to it in soothing words, they like that!

AmsterS@m on TV!

Step 5: Put the ridiculously over sized Television in a place where you can keep a close eye on it, they do crazy things when you're not watching...better safe than sorry!

AmsterS@m on TV!

Step 6: Connect the shiny, pretty Multimedia player to your ridiculously over sized Television and turn both on...

AmsterS@m on TV!

Step 7: Open the floodgates of your wireless Router to the sinful Internet smut that will pour into your house, make sure to wear rubber gloves and ear plugs! Before you do this, move the Router from your Studio to your Living room in a painful procedure involving disconnecting kilometers of cables, swallowing tons of dust and the occasional lethal tiger attack...almost done now!

AmsterS@m on TV!

Step 8: Et voilą, we're done&online, enjoy the wicked world of AmsterS@m in crisp clear, big screen quality :))

Mobile S@m
Slightly edited shot of myself reflected on the side window of a car in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905 phone. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I think I've said it before, the only thing that cars are good for is to shoot reflection pictures on their various shiny surfaces...I can never believe that people actually squeeze themselves into these little metal boxes and spend considerable periods of their life inside of them...whatever happened to 'Thinking outside the box'?! Oh well... :))

Lord Bikenheimer!

S@m The Bean Head
Slightly edited shot of myself, reflected on a coffee cup in Amsterdam, taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I just love coffee, anytime, anywhere, it's so delicious and healthy that I am seriously considering to have all my blood replaced with the black gold to save me all the time and trouble to continously refill my cup...I'd probably be much faster on my new bike, the fabulous Lord Bikenheimer, as well and could impress the Amsterdam babes with my speed and excellent corner-cutting skills ;-D

Hmmmm, coffee!

S@m The SmartA**
Slightly edited shot of myself reflected on the lamp of a bike in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905 phone. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Bikes are the best! And I'm not just saying that because I know that Bikey and Lord Bikenheimer are reading this...when was the last time you've been on a bike? If the answer is something like 'Years ago' or 'When I was a kid', I order you to go out right now and get yourself a bike for a couple of hours/days/weeks/years to refresh your memory during a nice long ride why it is so much fun and good for you :))

Good for you!

Meet Lord Bikenheimer!
Slightly edited shot of the new best bike in the world. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation. I finally did it, I bought a new bike, yay! It took me months of research and visiting every online- and offline bike shop in the world, but I finally found a worthy replacement for my beloved Bikey, the former best bike in the world.

Lord Bikenheimer!

Lord Bikenheimer!

Lord Bikenheimer!

It wasn't easy, even after having found a bike that looked like it could fill my beloved Bikeys giant foot steps, the guy selling just didn't seem to want to sell it to me...understandably, it is a pwettypwetty bike and I would not give it away for money or good words...somehow my daily visits for a whole week, combined with the substantial cash wads that I kept 'dropping accidentally' on the work floor, must've convinced him though that it's easier to build me a bike and get rid of me, than to keep up with my penetrating presence in his shop, lucky me :))

Lord Bikenheimer!

Lord Bikenheimer!

Lord Bikenheimer!

Of course a new bike needs a good name, but to my surprise she (the bike, clearly a girl!) had already thought of one and introduced herself as 'Lord Bikenheimer' to me...I said 'But you're a girl' and tried to overcome the painful silence that followed this stating of the obvious by snapping some shots of her special area...we agreed that until something better comes up, she'll go by 'Lord Bikenheimer' and we'll all try to forget this little episode of bike'ish gender-bender confusion, this is Amsterdam after all ;-D

Lord Bikenheimer!

Lord Bikenheimer!

Lord Bikenheimer!

Lord Bikenheimer Movie
I made a movie of the good folks putting 'Lord Bikenheimer' together, watch it on my YouTube page!

Here They Come!
Unedited shots of the Spuiplein, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Today I am going to try to buy a new bike...I say try, because I've been going back to this cool little shop where I found the perfect replacement for Bikey, but for some strange reason, the guy who runs it does not seem to want to sell his bikes...

Wicked!

I went there the first time a week ago and said "This is a perfect replacement for Bikey, I take it", but it wasn't ready to be sold yet, so he promised to assemble one just for me the next day, to meet all my demands and needs. The next day he was really busy, so we agreed that I'll come back Tuesday, only he wasn't there when I came Tuesday and no bike for me either...Wednesday he told me that something had come up and he did not manage to build my bike, but tomorrow...when I left his shop, I realized that I had a flat tire, so I left Bikey with him for a last repair before it'll enter its deserved retirement...

Wicked!

Today is the big day, he swore on his Grandmothers grave (no he didn't!) that today we'll finally manage to get it done, he knows that it's his last chance and I hope for all of us that he keeps his word, I want that pwettypwetty bike and I want it now...wish me luck, I've never had such problems to get rid of my money, haha :D

Bye Bye Bikey!
Unedited shots of the best bike in the world, reflected in a puddle on the Utrechtsestraat in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. After 3 1/2 years of dutifully serving under me, my beloved Bikey has finally reached the end of its life as a work horse and will retire this week...

The best bike in the world!

The best bike in the world!

We've been through a lot together in the last years, rain, sunshine, snow&ice, hailstorms, a visit to the Dutch Queen, and of course billions of puddles, that we often managed to snap some wicked shots of before riding off into the sunset. We went on a 'Pan European Bike Trip' with the 'Caravan of Love', to open the hearts and minds of our fellow Europeans to the idea of harmonic togetherness across the Continent. We went up- and downhill together. We created my first YouTube Bike-ride movie as a team. We offered lifts, we helped transport heavy equipment, we chilled in the parks together, we made a difference, we made things easier and funner, we made this world a better place...

The best bike in the world!

The best bike in the world!

Bikey will spend the rest of its days taking it easy, offering the occasional ride to a visiting friend or relative, but mainly just snoozing away the days, eating the cigarette butts from the gutter (a nasty habit I never managed to break!) and enjoying the sunshine, knowing that it has offered anything that a bike can offer to its Cowboy, and so much more...I miss you already and I will always fondly remember our years as partners in crime and the circa 20 000 kilometers we made together, you are the best :-D

The best bike in the world!

The best bike in the world!

To show Bikey how much I appreciate it, I've also made some reflection movies of our last ride through downtown Amsterdam yesterday, watch them on my YouTube page!

Do What You Want!
Unedited shots of buildings reflected in a puddle on the Leidsestraat in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Even though I've been dealing with this horrible situation with the Trojan horses attacking my PC last weekend, I still managed to squeeze out some fresh reflection shots of the Amsterdam downtown area...I'm sure you'll share my happiness, excitement and joy, haha. It's another sunny, lovely day in the best city in the world and I intend to spend it by buying cool things that I've wanted for some time now, more about this here in the next days :D

Entering Bizarro World...
Slightly edited shot of myself reflected on a video screen promoting the KunstVlaai/ArtPie exhibition in the Westerpark in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation. I took this shot the day I've uploaded the "It's Coffee Time" series, to illustrate how much I enjoy the morning bike ride with coffee&ciggie and naturally I appreciated the added element of the video people spooking around me, playing their wicked ghost tunes...little did I know that somehow this ghostly element would be following me for the rest of the weekend, but let me explain...

Wicked Thursday my good old friend, the lovely Miss L, came down from the Mountain top she's living on, to visit me and the best city in the world, we were both really happy and excited to meet again after not seeing each other for years, to celebrate this special occasion I played some relaxed Reggae tunes from some online radio station on my PC, when my Antivirus software alerted me to unwanted Intruders, namely a bunch of Trojan horses, so nasty, it took me all weekend to kill them, yikes! My computer is a very safe, overly protected place and I pride myself in never having suffered any of the manymany horrible things that seem to happen all over the Interwebs these days, but now they finally got me and it pains me to admit that it wasn't even some sleazy Pron site, but a harmless little radio stream that kicked my ass...to add insult to injury, I don't even remember which station it was, otherwise I'd send them an online Fatwa that would make hair grow in unspeakable places of their doomed bodies, hahaha :D

In A Dark Place...
Slightly edited shot of myself reflected on the window of a shop in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905 phone. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Having my main PC infected with a bunch of nasty Trojan horses was a traumatizing experience, for a whole weekend no Flickr, no Facebook, no Twitter, no Blogger no updates on my website, no online banking or shopping, it was weird, I can tell you! Luckily for me, my good old friend, the lovely Miss L, was in town and we had a great weekend outdoors, enjoying the sunshine and the bike rides through the best city in the world...in the meantime my computer was at home, fighting a battle for life and death against the horrible Intruders and finally, after 3 days of scanning, deleting, cleaning, killing, rearranging, quarantining, searching&destroying and many other supercalifragilisticexpialidocious measures involving the best security software out there, combined with inhuman efforts, it came out as the winner, clean and shiny as a freshly installed machine just rolled out of the factory (well, sort of...) and I can finally go online again and share my story with you, yay :)

Wicked

Coffee Time Again!
Slightly edited shot of myself reflected on the counter of the Coffee Company in Amsterdam. Taken with my C905 phone. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. After the Trojan nightmare was finally over, there was nothing left to do but to sit back, relax, drink coffee and realize that I am off for the whole week, the sun is shining and I am using the time to spoil myself with some new, funky gadgets that I will tell you about in the next days...until then, thank you for visiting my stream and my website, even though I haven't been able to visit yours in the last days due to all the madness going on...have a great day :))

Coffee Time!
Unedited shots of the Coffee Company at the Spuiplein in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I don't know if you know this, but we don't have 'Starbucks' in the best city in the world (actually, this is a white lie, I've read in the news that there's one inside the Amsterdam Central Station now, but I haven't seen it myself, so I can't vouch for it :)), we have the Coffee Company. They're all over town, they are not expensive and they make delicious coffee, so I stop there every morning to pick up a cup of 'Americano' that I enjoy together with a nice, healthy cigarette, while riding to work on Bikey, usually resulting in a fine start of the day :)

Good Morning Amsterdam
Unedited shot of the sun rising, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Yesterday morning I found this lovely puddle and used it to capture the sun rising in the best city in the world...as you can see, it is covered with a thin film of filth (the puddle and the city!), probably residue from the Strike of the Garbagemen that we barely survived (and that luckily, finally, ended yesterday, yay :)), that prevented my cam from properly focusing on the items inside the water, creating a nice, glassy effect in the process, I hope you like it :)

Unedited shot of the 'Athenaeum' book store on the Spuiplein in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I like the 'Athenaeum' book store, even though I never go inside, I prefer buying my reading material at the 'ABC' right next door, but the building always looks really pretty in puddles...have a good start into the new week :)

Finally, the Strike of the Garbagemen in Amsterdam is over!! Floating Death-Traps
Slightly edited shots of Houseboats, reflected on the Amstel in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Houseboats are kinda magic, they look really nice from the outside and add a very likable element to the overall appearance and flavor of the best city in the world, while from the inside they are often cramped, damp, dark, smelly places...I think I'd rather live free-floating on the Amstel like a duck than in one of those drifting coffins that tend to blow up, burn out, or simply sink for no obvious reasons...of course I'm just making this up, I'm sure it's a great and life-enhancing experience to live on a house boat :)

No editing besides some added contrast&saturation, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. In the best city in the world there are sexy things lingering everywhere and I bet it's really tough for very religious people to live here...luckily Amsterdam has already corrupted and smudged my soul deep into the last corners and I don't have to worry about going to Heaven or burning in Hell, as all Amsterdammers go to the Devil right away by default, as soon as we shed our fleshy vessels, haha...have a wonderful day, only do things that will please you and/or others!

The Ghost Rider
Unedited shot of a biker on the Rokin in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. As it is typical in the music industry, the 'Shiny-Hiney Man' and 'Bling-Bling Building' are already forgotten and became ghosts, even though their first Gangsta-Rap CD, produced by Dr.Dre and Eminem, was a big hit, but the world keeps on turning and tomorrow somebody else is the Bee's knees, that's just life...have a great day :)

Wicked

The Shiny Hiney
Unedited shot of a biker on the Rokin in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. This Gentleman has the sun shine out of his A**, or so it seems...maybe he's a friend of the Bling-Bling building and they're planning on meeting with Dr.Dre and Eminem some time soon to have them help produce their first Gangsta-Rap CD ;-)

Wicked

The Bling-Bling Building
Unedited shot of the Rokin in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. As you can see in this shot, even the buildings in the best city in the world look like freakin' Gangsta-Rappers with all their Bling-Bling sunshine reflections...I'm impatiently awaiting the first CD of Bling-Bling building and its buddy, Shiny-Hiney man, I heard rumors that it will be produced by Dr.Dre and Eminem, haha ;-D

Wicked

Bling-Bling Movie
I've made a wicked reflection movie of this puddle too, check it out on my YouTube page!

We Celebrate...
Unedited shot of a biker, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Every year on the 5th of May we celebrate our Freedom and the Liberation from the Nazi occupation in World War II...yesterday, during the traditional 'Remembrance of the Dead' ceremony on the Dam Square, an incident occurred and panic broke out, the Queen was rushed from the scene by her Security detail and people were running and falling everywhere, it was horrible...somebody in the crowd had passed out and yelled, but luckily no actual attack or anything like it took place, so the Royal Family came back and continued the celebration...what weird, wicked times we're living in!

Wicked

Directions
Unedited shot of a guy on the Rokin in Amsterdam, giving directions to a car full of tourists, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. If you live in Amsterdam, you have to be prepared to give directions to the various landmarks of the best city in the world to visitors in the streets at any given time, anywhere...the confusing thing is, they will ALWAYS ask you for some place, monument or museum that you've heard of millions of times and you have a rough idea of where it is located, but for the love of God, you can't give them proper directions...what's a dude to do but pretend he knows and send them off to some random corners of the country?! Sorry guys, we only live here, we're not Google Maps, you know, haha ;-D

Wicked Wicked

Zebra Style
Unedited shot of a truck on the Rokin in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. I like this one, it looks a bit like a Zebra ran through the puddle when I took the shot...have a great day, and if you have some spare time, please celebrate Freedom and Peace with us, thank you!

Wicked

Freedom Movie
I've made a wicked reflection movie of this puddle too, check it out on my YouTube page!

It's The Network, Stupid!
As we all know, networking is essential, and thanks to the tools of the Interwebs, is has never been easier to build international networks with like-minded people from all over the world, to enhance each others chances of achieving our goals and fulfilling our dreams...my personal contribution to this great idea, besides maintaining this website and my various other weboulets (Flickr, YouTube, Twitter, etc.) is the 'Amsterdam Alliance' that I started last month on Facebook. But that's not all, yesterday I was contacted by the good folks of the InterNations Netherlands Expat site and we agreed to link to each other to strengthen the bond between the multinational inhabitants of Amsterdam, Europe, the World and the whole freakin' Universe :)

Connect!
Image 'borrowed' from http://www.internations.org!

"InterNations is the first international online community for people who live and work abroad. As a network based on trust, we enable our members to interact with other global minds in a similar situation, with comparable interests and needs. InterNation users can keep in touch with friends and business contacts; they can exchange reliable information on expat-specific topics, both on a global and a local level."

We Remember...
Unedited shot of a biker, reflected in a puddle in Amsterdam. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. Every year on the 4th of May we remember all those that lost their life during and after World War II, in military conflicts and in Peacekeeping missions...we take 2 minutes to silently remember and appreciate the fact that those people died so that we have the Freedom to live in Peace and Prosperity, without having to fear war or violence...the lady on the bike is passing by in front of the stage on the Amstel where tomorrow the traditional annual concert will be held that the Queen usually attends...

Wicked

During the traditional 'Remembrance of the Dead' ceremony on the Dam Square, an incident occurred and panic broke out, the Queen was rushed from the scene by her Security detail and people were running and falling everywhere, it was horrible...it seems that the cause for this was that somebody in the crowd had yelled loudly and then passed out some weirdo who has a long track-record of stealing and dealing disturbed the 2 minute silence on purpose and caused the panic, but luckily no actual attack or anything like it took place, so the Royal Family came back and continued the celebration...what weird, wicked times we're living in!

Looking Back
Unedited shot of a guy on the Rokin in Amsterdam looking back at me, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Looking back at yesterday, I can safely say that I am overjoyed and excited that it is Tuesday now, and my weekend will start again this afternoon...Monday was such a weird day, that seemed completely unnecessary, I think it would have been better for most of us if that day had never happened or if we'd at least skipped major parts of it :)

Wicked!

Back To Business
Unedited shot of a biker in Amsterdam, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Now that all the Queensday madness lies behind us, it's time to get back to business in the best country in the world...but only for 2 days, then it's the 5th of May and we celebrate our Freedom that we've enjoyed for the last 65 years, by taking a collective day off from work and most of us bridge over with some vacation days to the next weekend, or at least that's what I'm doing, lazy me :))

Wicked!

Leaving A Mess...
Unedited shot of the dirty streets of Amsterdam after the Queensday celebration, reflected in a puddle. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing, no magic tricks, no Photoshop. Friday we celebrated the Queensday in the best country in the world and it was a lot of fun, now the party is over and everybody is trying to focus on the good things to come. As every year, we left tons of garbage behind us, even though the city cleaners are on strike, lol. If you haven't done so yet, check out the millions of movies of the Queensday I shot, you can find them on my YouTube page! Enjoy your Sunday, take care but take it easy :))

Yesterday we celebrated the Queensday in the best country in the world, even though it wasn't really the Queen's Birthday but her dead mother's special day...yes, we're weird like that, we'd rather celebrate a dead Queen than to have a massive outside event on January 31st, when it's Beatrix's real Birthday :)

I went downtown with some friends to enjoy the biggest, best party in the world with drinks, smokes and sunshine and even though is was not as busy as in previous years, it was fun anyway and we'll do it again next year :)

I think every country, even those without a Queen or King, should have a giant celebration once a year where everybody can go nuts, throw all their old stuff from the attic in the street and try to sell it while consuming shocking amounts of alcoholic beaverages, covered in giant smoke clouds emiting from various legal and illegal sources, stunned by way-too-loud music coming out of every available speaker, earphone and DJ-booth!

Queen For One Day
Slightly edited shots of the lovely Miss Monyart in her special Queensday shirt. Taken with my Panasonic DMC-FZ8. No editing besides some added contrast&saturation. The lovely Miss Monyart is wearing her special Edition AmsterSam Queensday shirt and she's loving it :))

Queen for one day :)

Last year the city of Amsterdam purchased one of my photos from the previous Queensday, to use it to promote the 2009 event (that, as you might remember, ended in a deadly tragedy that resulted in the best party in the world being canceled) and caused an International scandal in the process that forced me to hide my face from the Interwebs in eternal shame ...this year it's raining and the sky over the best country in the world is gray and sad...they say the sun will come out around noon, wish us luck, we don't want to have the biggest party in the world messed up again...I'm even wearing my special Edition AmsterS@m Queensday shirt to support the good cause :)

King for one day :)
